Is 'security 5G' good or bad for security?

by:Eagle Mobile Video     2020-01-01
On 2019, from the Spring Festival gala at the beginning of the year, 5G transmission of 4K high-definition images was realized for the first time, and a large number of cities such as Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenzhen began to explore the commercialization of 5G industry, in addition, 5G technology has become a topic of public concern in various '5G' application scenarios such as medical treatment, transportation and unmanned aerial vehicles. Turn your attention to the security industry. In the 4G era, wireless transmission products such as 4G surveillance cameras and 4G law enforcement recorders have been applied to remote areas, areas with harsh environments, agriculture, water supplies, railway lines, emergency command and other traditional wired security products that cannot be laid. region. In the context of increasingly multi-scenario testing of '5G' applications, users are constantly looking forward to the development direction of 'security 5G. Although Hikvision and Dahua, the leading enterprises in the security industry, have cooperated with partners to release 5G projects such as '5G Smart Station' and '5G Smart fire protection system, however, at this stage, the 5G projects of more security enterprises are still in the laboratory stage of testing and publicity, and few can realize large-scale 5G transmission in practical application scenarios. Wang Da, vice president of the Shenzhen Security Industry Association and deputy director of the expert committee, said, the small amount of 5G base station construction, long construction period, high investment cost and actual landing vulnerable to external factors have all become urgent problems to be solved when 5G technology enters the security industry. For this reason, there is still a long way to go before the large-scale implementation of 'security 5G' can be carried out in actual scenes, and the original 4G network still has a lot of commercial value to explore. It may be appropriate to use the word 'road resistance' to describe the current development of 'security 5G'. On the one hand, the insufficient number of 5G base stations, high operating costs of operators and large power consumption all greatly limit the development of 5G technology; On the other hand, due to price factors, users still prefer to use 4G networks, and 4G technology still has a lot of room for resource mining in various industries. The construction effect of 5G base stations is not good, and the shortage of base stations has become a roadblock for 5G commercial use. Compared with the coverage radius of 4G base station, the microcellular technology adopted by 5G technology greatly reduces the coverage radius of base station, this also means that more base stations need to be built to ensure the smooth flow of 5G signals. Wu Hequan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, had previously predicted that the number of base stations to be built for 5G networking would be 4 to 5 times that of 4G base stations, first-tier cities such as beishangguangshen have sufficient funds to invest in base station construction, but more small and medium-sized cities will feel the pressure of construction funds. Data show that by the end of last September, China's 3G/4G base stations had reached 4. 79 million, but according to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, by July this year, China had built 3G base stations. There are 80 thousand base stations. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the total number of 5G base stations in China will reach 150 thousand. If 5G technology wants to be commercialized nationwide, 5G base stations need to reach at least the scale of the above 3G/4G base stations, the number of 5G base stations at this stage is not enough to support the wide coverage of 5G signals. As the number of base stations increases, operators need to purchase more communication equipment, which correspondingly increases operating costs. The large power consumption increases the cost of operators, and the rising power consumption of base stations becomes another factor hindering the development of 5G technology. Statistics show that the power consumption of 5G base stations may reach 2. 5% of that of 4G base stations. 5 to 3. 5 times, the existing network power supply and supporting facilities need to be expanded in advance. This also means that the power consumption of 5G base stations is far higher than that of 4G base stations, resulting in operators facing new problems such as re-introduction of power to base stations in addition to paying higher electricity charges. Under the background of commercialization, these construction, procurement and power consumption costs will eventually be converted into the use costs of users, coupled with the impact on the application of 5G technology, major operators' 4G departments will also begin to reduce 4G usage costs. Under the conditions of insufficient signals and high usage costs, users' enthusiasm for 5G technology application will also be reduced. 'Security 5G' is greatly affected by the actual environment. For a long time, 5G communication technology has the characteristics of high speed, low delay, large broadband, etc, users often associate it with ultra-high definition video transmission, and the more video surveillance data brought by ultra-high definition is one of the applications that industry users are looking forward to for 'security 5G. However, it is understood that the ultra-high definition video expected by the industry at this stage brings clearer images to security monitoring more in the laboratory environment. In actual application scenarios, the monitoring equipment is extremely vulnerable to environmental factors such as rain, snow, dust, smog, protective cover and other environmental factors, making it possible for the equipment to collect pictures, the external environment has an error on the clarity of the lens, resulting in the picture presented by 4K or even 8K will be the same as 1080 P. However, at present, 4G technology has been able to meet the 1080 P high-definition monitoring picture transmission under the actual application environment. Under the circumstances of increased cost, immature technology and poor application effect, security engineering integrators are also not enthusiastic about the use of 5G technology, and the 'security 5G' project is difficult to achieve real landing. The construction effect of 5G base station is not good, the operation cost is high, the power consumption is large, and the enthusiasm of industry users is not high. Under the trouble of these factors, at present, there are not many solutions that 5G technology can truly meet the actual application environment. And in the security field, thanks to the characteristics of flexible networking, convenient construction and low long-distance cost, 4G transmission has always played a good role as a good supplement to the wired transmission of traditional security systems, in the current situation of increasing safety demand in remote areas, agricultural water areas and traffic lines, the development of commercial resources of 4G technology can still give people reverie.
